About Our Eye Care Center Wilmington NC
Our Eye Care Center Is Here For You
At Front Street Optometric Care, our eye doctor, Dr. Tiffany Jackson, performs extensive eye exams that not only ensure you are seeing your best, but also thoroughly assess your eye health. Even if you do not require an optical prescription to see clearly, eye exams are still recommended every year.
There are several eye conditions that are nearly asymptomatic in their early stages, but detecting them early and providing immediate treatment can prevent future vision loss. Retinal tears and glaucoma are the most common eye conditions that are easily treated when they are diagnosed early on.
Dr. Jackson will take her time to listen to you, answer your questions, and make sure you’re satisfied; our professional eye care staff’s main goal is to achieve the best possible vision for all our patients.

How Often Should I Have My Eyes Checked?
According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), children (Pediatric vision) should have their eyes examined at 6 months of age, at age 3 and again at the start of school. Children without vision problems or risk factors for eye or vision problems should then continue to have their eyes examined at least every two years throughout school. For adults, the AOA recommends an annual eye exam for adults who wear eyeglasses or contacts. If you don’t regularly wear corrective lenses, you should still have an eye exam every two to three years up to the age of 40, depending on your rate of visual change and overall health.
What to Expect at Your Eye Exam
During your complete eye exam in our Wilmington office, our eye doctor will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses but will also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health. A comprehensive adult eye and vision examination may include, but is not limited to, the following tests:
- Evaluation of depth perception,
- color vision,
- eye muscle movements,
- peripheral or side vision, and the way your
- pupils respond to light;
- Visual Acuity;
- Eye Focusing,
- Eye Teaming, and
- Eye Movement Testing;
